Melbourne, the University of Melbourne (UM), the highest ranked Australian University, all University of Melbourne programs count very substantial numbers of foreign nationals, evidently many from Asia, but also from Europe, the Commonwealth and North-America. UM's professors come from all over the world, and the department of Architecture is only one of the three departments in this field in Australia which was has been awarded with the Excellence in Research (ERA) label in Australia. UM attracts students from the whole of the Australian sub-continent, including New-Zealand. Participation to Ausmip organized through UM's five principal research units, each specialized in specific domains, enabling high level exchanges both for staff, post-docs and PhD researchers.
Auckland, (AUSMIP+)
Auckland, the University of Auckland counts more than 1/3 of all top researchers in New-Zealand, and is the highest ranked university of the country. UoA is part of APRU, WUN, Universitas 21 and has partnerships with over 80 institutions worldwide. UoA accomodates a very high number of foreign students, making it a truly cosmopolitan University. UoA participates with three departments to the Ausmip program, Architecture, Urban Design and Planning, the latter also an active player within UN-Habitat.
NICAI's doctoral program research focuses on sustainability, a domain in which New Zealand takes on a leading position, with a particular relevance in terms of Western suburban settlement patterns.
